A MULTI-PURPOSE DATALOGGER FOR HEAVY EQUIPMENT
Heavy equipment represents a major capital investment. For it to be cost-effective,
it is important to ensure this equipment is used to its full potential.
The MultiDAT electronic datalogger was designed by FERIC specifically for measuring
the utilization rate of heavy equipment involved in forestry operations. An
analysis of MultiDAT data makes it possible to substantially increase the profitability
of all types of operations using heavy equipment when part of a continuous improvement
program.
WHAT CAN THE MULTIDAT DATALOGGER DO?
MultiDAT is equipped with an internal sensor that detects machine movement but
not motor vibrations. In many cases, simply having this information can provide
a quick overview of production time.
- Record the use of machine functions
When linked to sensors (up to four) supplied by the user, MultiDAT can record
the use of the machine’s functions. This makes it possible to analyze
how long the machine functions are activated or to count how many times they
are activated.
- Monitor operations using GPS technology
The Global Positioning System (GPS) option can be added for collecting positional
data and determining the areas treated. These data may be exported for analysis
using ArcGIS or compatible software.
MultiDAT has a very user-friendly interface that allows operators to identify
themselves and quickly enter codes that describe the work in progress or the
cause of machine downtime. These codes can be customized for each machine.

MULTIDL SOFTWARE
This software makes it possible to download MultiDAT data using short-range
radio waves or cellular or satellite phone. It can be configured to collect
data on a daily basis from an entire fleet of machines without any human assistance.
Its use requires the purchase of short-range modems, either cellular or satellite
depending on the case.
MULTIDAT SOFTWARE FOR PC
This software makes it possible to have a detailed look at equipment operations
and to design and produce customized reports and charts. Reports can also be
exported in Excel format.
DATA SHUTTLE
Certain personal digital assistants (PDAs) or more rugged field computers may
be used to download MultiDAT data.
MULTIPAD DISPLAY
This display can be connected to MultiDAT and provide the operator with immediate
feedback on productivity. Since the information displayed depends on operator codes, it cannot be used with MultiDAT Jr.
